Dear South Pittsburgh Neighbors,

This past November, I announced my candidacy for the District 4 City Council seat. The issues of opioid abuse, lack of public safety resources, poor infrastructure, and a school district without the proper means inspired me to help our neighborhood. I launched my campaign with the expectation that this election process would be very difficult and that there are no guarantees. Nonetheless, I poured all of my energy in to my campaign with the belief that I could help the South Pittsburgh Neighborhoods grow and thrive.

However, the landscape of the race has changed dramatically over the last several months. With that being said and understanding the totality of the election process, I will be suspending my campaign immediately. This was not an easy decision. I labored over the options and decided that suspending my campaign was the best decision for myself and the future of District 4. I will continue to work as a community advocate in our neighborhoods and fight opioid abuse in our city through my work at the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office.

I am supporting Anthony Coghill as the candidate for District 4, City Council. I strongly encourage you to pledge your support to Mr. Coghill, as well. Thank you all for your support and I look forward to working with you in the very near future.

Your neighbor,

Tony Griffith
